Oiling Your Moroccan Lamps RightYou might consider adding oil to the body of your lamp if you live in a particular environment. Most Moroccan lamps respond well to oil because it keeps their textures intact and beautiful. This is especially the case if you have a lamp that uses a leather or goatskin shade. In fact, oiling is especially beneficial for lamps stored in homes that live in hot or dry environments. Oil will keep the lamp from warping or looking drier than it really is. You can particularly use this to brighten any leather spots on the lamp so they look a little more refreshed. It’s especially important seeing how heat can cause any leather pieces on a lamp to dry out after a while. It’s all to give the lamp a beautiful look.
However, you have to be sure you apply the oil the right way. You need to add the oil to your lamp’s exterior at only the right time. This means that you should only add it when the lamp is turned off or the candle is on. Sometimes oil might be flammable if you try adding it into the spot while it is too warm. Also, the oil has to dry off for at least a day before you can start the lamp up again. It has to dry off so it will absorb itself into the shade without anything dropping off of it. It needs to be used appropriately so you will have a beautiful looking lamp without creating a risky hazard out of it. |
