Moroccan Furniture and decor online store

The exotic and exquisite crafts of Eastern countries have always intrigued people from this side of the globe with their beauty and creativity. The breathtaking creations of Morocco have especially captured the attention of Americans in recent years, and a new Web site hopes to further the interest in Moroccan merchandise. Star of Morocco is an online furniture and home decor store that specializes in the retail and wholesale distribution of Moroccan items. The business is owned by Adeal Benhayoun, a former Longhorn, and reflects his personal concept of bringing the East to the West.

Benhayoun graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. Originally from Morocco, he is currently a Realtor in Austin. Star of Morocco is a venture that brings together his Moroccan and American cultures, introducing the distinct, artistic style of Morocco to the always-bubbling cultural melting pot that is the U.S.

The Web site, which was launched this past August, features a wide variety of authentic Moroccan-made furniture, d?cor, jewelry and lamps. Far more detailed and exquisite than Moroccan-inspired items found in local shops and department stores, the products are hand-made and painted in Morocco with native designs and patterns that are unparalleled. Some items, such as the Spanish tile armoires and the Moorish star tables, are covered in several intricate Moroccan motifs, creating layers of striking design.

Adeal oversees the orders and manages the Web site, and is very happy with the way sales are continuing to pick up. We have a partner in Morocco that ships to locations abroad, while shipments for the United States and Canada come from Austin? he said.

Star of Morocco offers a large selection of furniture, from chairs and lamps to doors and screens and even rugs and pottery, all of which can be shipped anywhere in the world, in both individual packages and large 20 to 40 foot containers. Each piece boasts the vibrant red, blue and gold color schemes often used in Moroccan design, which are bright complements to any room in the home.

Although a relatively new business, Star of Morocco is experiencing great success in its methods of promotion and marketing.

I'm a big believer of online sales, which is why I will continue our promotional efforts on the Internet, Adeal said.

We have plans to open a store in Austin in the future, Adeal said. We want to expand to mailing catalogs and much more.
