Where Leather for Moroccan Furniture Comes

Leather is a huge part of Moroccan furniture that often adds to the quality of what youíve got. Leather manufacturers around Morocco will make this with goatskin. Goatskin is harvested because it is not only thick but also durable and less likely to be hurt by outside materials. You can use this leather without worrying about it being too thick. Most forms of this leather will be dyed with a red coloring to give it a traditional appearance but more furniture manufacturers have been experimenting with different colors in recent years. The tanning process is then done by hand to not only heat up the surface but to also create a birdís eye appearance that uses a few series of eye-shaped spots around a smooth grain surface. This is very different from sheepskin in that goatskin is thicker and may not contain any fluffy materials on its surface.

You can tell that your Moroccan furniture has been made with pure Moroccan leather if it has the birdís eye appearance on it. It creates a sense of texture on the surface while also facilitating a softer feeling. This is a beautiful feature but you might want to be sure that you take care of your furniture. You will have to oil it on occasion so the properties in the area are not stuck in a particular spot. In fact, this may be used on not only a traditional chair or sofa but also on ottomans and even some surfaces with hard tops like desks.
